The story hinges on an early decision on whether to carry out a massacre. If Denam does so, he becomes a calculating figure who is willing to put aside his convictions in the name of pursuing his greater agenda. If he doesn't, he becomes an outlaw who is hunted by his former allies. Different characters suffer different ends depending on the choices that you make, and some of them can be pretty gruesome.
Vyce ends up getting hanged in one ending, while Catiua commits suicide in another. Its dense lore; grim outlook, and winding politics bring to mind Game of Thrones at points, which is a remarkable thing to say for a game developed in an era dominated by cartoon mascots. Despite all this, Tactics Ogre tends to be overshadowed by its better-known successor, Final Fantasy Tactics , which was also developed by Matsuno and company.
The two certainly have plenty of similarities: an isometric perspective, dark medieval storytelling, a class system, and an emphasis on min-maxing over tactics. But where Tactics Ogre's initial run never made it to the U. Amazing as Final Fantasy Tactics can be, though, Tactics Ogre makes an argument for being the better game in the end. Another hours to complete the other two major side quest series.
This is like my lifetime game, i can just open my psp and play this and for me the word ending might be very hard to attain. It's my soul.

Thread title is pretty self-explanatory. I managed to beat FFT: War of the Lions and even managed to miraculously not screw myself by being too weak before you know who, but when I read the slightest thing about Tactics Ogre, it seems so daunting.
Apparently some people will randomly join you, others abandon you, there's some sort of card system which allows you to start over again, there is an alignment system which results in radically different endings, and the list goes on and on.
Is that so much to ask? Also, if someone could highlight some game mechanics so that they make a little more sense and make sure I don't run into a Spoiler Wiegraf. Neoleo Member. Oct 27, 2, I wouldn't worry about this too much, the Chariot System basically makes it impossible to get stuck. Just use some Archers and you'll be cool with most combat situations.
I don't recall a Wiegraf Situation in my playthrough though. Eightandh Member. Dec 29, Hey, I just started this game yesterday! I only recently played Jeanne D'Arc, which I didn't even finish. I am terrible at these games. Strings Member. Oct 27, 19, Don't worry about it. Seda Community Resettler Member. Oct 25, 8, Neoleo said:. Just use some Archers and you'll be cool. The branching paths is the highlight for me, enjoy it! Ranged characters are basically a must and buffing is damn helpful. The game isn't too bad difficulty wise to finish the story, but if you're a completionist you'll probably have trouble. Oct 25, 2, Don't look up optimal ways to do things, just go with your gut at decision times After beating the game you can go back and do the other branches using your current party so you can see what characters to recruit and stuff Some of the recruitment mechanics are leaving guys alive during fights and shit so don't worry about any of it during your first playthrough.
Just have fun. Oct 29, If you recruit some super strong bonus characters later on the game becomes a cakewalk. You have nothing to worry about OP, the game is plain awesome! Disclaimer Member. Oct 25, 9, As others have said, there's a time travel mechanic post-game that allows you to go through all the various story branches and recruit all characters. I'd play through the game close to blind at first, and if you enjoy it, then you can use the chariot time travel system to add as much replayability as you want, consulting recruitment guides, etc.
For now, relax, and have fun. It has a vast amount of content, and is as deep or as shallow as you want it to be. Play it! Help please Tech Support 1 Answer Are there any easy way to raise loyalty? For that much, I really do want the bang for my buck, and while the quality of the game does seem rather high, the game should last fairly long to justify buying it at that price. So, how long should this game take to beat? User Info: kkhohoho kkhohoho Topic Creator 10 years ago 3 Thanks, though I think I'll be a bit more specific; If I played through the game once, and then used the new WORLD system to play through the other two routes, and additionally, do all missions and get all characters, what's a rough estimation of how long all this would take?
