It's really hard to describe though. But in like 5 seconds, the icon of mute and unmute would've showed up like times. It happen at a minimum of twice to three times a day.

It should show - vibrate,ringtone,text tone, new voice mail Logan Ingram It simply could be that your phone is set to vibrate but if thats not it than maybe could be that it is a software error and the phone needs to be reset.
Troy I'm answering this because I just fix mind. I have iphone 4s just vibrate no ring. But when you plug in head phone or external speaker it works.
You can also choose that your phone should ring when you receive calls from certain contacts even though your phone is in silent mode. Find " Do Not Disturb ". Press Settings. Press Do Not Disturb. Turn Do Not Disturb on or off. Press the indicator next to "Manual" to turn the function on or off.
Select period for Do Not Disturb. Press Scheduled and follow the instructions on the screen to select the required period for Do Not Disturb. Select contacts. Press Allow Calls From. Press the required setting to select which contacts can call you even though Do Not Disturb is turned on. Turn Repeated Calls on or off. Press the indicator next to "Repeated Calls" to turn the function on or off.
